I've tried a few things, Redken Guts and Moroccanoil Root Boost (this one thanks to a sister who loves it), both "nos" for me.

She used Paul Mitchell Flexible Style Sculpting Foam on me and sold me on trying a trial size, and thus far (AKA, what she used on me yesterday), it's okay, but doesn't give that same grittiness/texture the Stay High added for me. Brought it up with the woman who cut my hair at Ulta yesterday (who was the one who originally sold me on Stay High). I have some more possible dupes coming in the mail and will update. It has a light, inoffensive apple-y scent.īONUS: it's much cheaper than most of the potential dupes I've looked at and tried. It does not make the hair feel like straw, like Redken's suggested replacement for Stay High (Guts 10 made my hair feel like gross rough straw). It seems to contain more water - when applied, the hair feels wetter.
It does not make the strands have that healthier, virgin hair look that the Stay High does - my split ends stick out more w/ this stuff, but so far it's the closest dupe. It's not the gel to mousse texture that the Redken Stay High is, it's straight mousse, and it does not give my super-fine, fly-away hair the same "weight" as the Stay High, BUT, it does provide the same volumizing, "big hair" effect and some of the shine as the Stay High.
